Article 24 of the 1964 Palestinian National Charter states:

“This Organization does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, [or] the Gaza Strip…”

Arafat reveals two important realities in his Charter. First, that Palestinians are Arabs. So let us remember that Arabs are indigenous to to Arabia, not to the Levant. Secondly, that as long as Egypt and Jordan occupied disputed territories Arafat renounced any claim for Gaza or Judea/Samaria as sovereign Palestinian territory.

Suddenly in 1967, when Jordan was defeated and Israel took over administering J/S, it was illegally occupied by colonial aggressors.

This reveals the end goal, which was not Palestinian self government. It was pan Islamic domination over non Muslim and indigenous regional Jews. Islam cannot live in equity beside non Muslim dhimmis and infidels.

M: The “occupation” of the West Bank, the Gaza strip, and the Golan Heights, is what drives the odd, current view of Israel as an “apartheid” state. I now get arguments based on the different treatments that Israelis—including Arab Muslim Israeli citizens—and populations in these territories receive.

We, of course, know the folly behind such a view:

Those who accuse Israel of racist abuses—against any of the non-citizen “Palestinian refugees”—ignore the Islamist component which has kept that sad population in its stateless limbo for the past 78 years.

__________

Those LBGTQ+ and women who support the “Palestinian refugees” can feel a certain pride—that they are supporting a population that would not tolerate their presence. The obvious fallacy of that “pride” is that these protestors do not risk putting their support to the test, such as by openly appearing as LBGTQ+ individuals or as equal-rights women, in the contested regions.

Ignorance sure is easier for each of us to get than to get rid of.

The sanctions announced today against Israel only show to what extent Carney, Miliband, and Macron are such scurrilous individuals with no moral fibre, bending over to placate their Muslim voters and banking on the millennial anti-Jewish hatred typical of their countries and their foreign policy elites (Canada inherited this being a British colony). I wish these leaders nothing but the worst and am glad Israel is sufficiently strong that it can ignore their meaningless and ignorant positions. That Britain takes the lead on this only reinforces the idea that the country has never gotten over the fact that the Jews and not the Muslims kicked them out of Mandate Palestine. There is no point arguing against the tendentious claims in Miliband's speech. He is the kind of Jew who would have been working the Inquisition against the Jews. This entire piece of foreign policy garbage should alert the Jews that they have no home in the West and to the extent that they stay, they had better mobilize against the people who want to murder them.

Wonderful, excellent article. We need more clear ,incisive, well documented articles such as this one, calling out the double standards and faulty arguments criticizing Israel. I will forward it to many who care about this issue.

Keep it up Prof. Finlayson.

Look at the large number of words required for the excellent post above. Why must the side of Reason always go to such greater lengths than the side that supports Bigoted nonsense?

__________

In the global case of Jewry and the world’s manifest discrimination related to it, I assert this:

Jews suffer from a sort of reverse bigotry. Jews are held to a higher standard than most others.

(The over-representation of renowned Jews on the world stage likely contributes to this subconscious view.)

This kind of anti-bigotry underlies the world’s manifest—and manifestly denied—antisemitism.

This same anti-bigotry convinces the world that it is not “antisemitic.” It cannot be! So many renowned Jews are held in such high regard!

__________

Israel is expected to rise far, far, far above, over the morality of the rest of the world—but specifically above the imprecations of its Arab/Muslim neighbors.

__________

The only definitively non-Christian, non-Islamic state in the region, Israel, is expected to offer up an endless supply of “other cheeks” to turn.

The Holocaust, and specifically the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, taught World Jewry that it can’t afford to keep turning so many “cheeks.”

Israel retains a good deal of obvious Humanism and morality. It just will not even consider sacrificing all of its “cheeks.”

Way up at the beginning of this essay, I read this: “But notice what disappears almost immediately from the Western telling of the story: Israelis.”

This point drives my own, overly engaged efforts at communicating about the issues of the Israel-and-surrounds region: the people on the Israel side “disappear.”

After almost 60 years of thinking, talking, and posting on the subject of Israel and its neighbors, the only conclusions I can draw are these:

(A) Antisemitism is the obvious driver behind anti-Israel views.

(B) Most antisemitic people (especially on the Left) are unaware of their subsumed antisemitism, but it makes the whole of all our discussions, debates and arguments fall on deaf ears.

(C) I don’t want to write about this any more, myself. The obtuseness I encounter, effort after effort after effort, drives me as batty, on that side, as my arguments with any sentient adult who can abide Mr. Trump—who is somehow unable to discern Mr. Trump’s absolute unfitness because of the combined psychological defects of Narcissism and Borderline-Personality disorder.

I appreciate the fine essay, above, that prompts my response down here.
