By GTA I assume you mean Greater Toronto Area and not Grand Theft Auto. I would enjoy meeting for coffee and scones, but I reside in the United States, not in a border state, and the last I was in Canada was 2002 when I camped with my family in the Adirondack Mountains, visited Buffalo, then drove across Canada to Detroit to spend a week with family in rural Michigan. While driving through Canada at 2 am I was rearended by a drunk driver at high speed, and with the grace of G-d able to control my car with family inside and not crash. I pulled off the highway and was visited by a RCMP officer, who asked if I could identify the car that struck me. I saw it only as a flash of light as the driver smashed into my car. But I caught something odd sticking out of the rear bumper of my Toyota Previa minivan. I asked the officer to point his flashlight and low and behold, the driver had impaled his front license plate into my bumper along with two long screws. I was able to pull the license plate off my bumper, hand it to the officer, and tell him I had something better than a description of the car that struck me, I had his license plate! That is the last time I was in Canada.
Oh too bad. I would like to in the future buy a place in South Carolina or Florida - I hate our winters and am not fond of our vapid Canadian society. That is quite a story. Good evidence gathering.
The RCMP officer got a call on his handi talkie while taking my information that another officer found a car and driver a few miles away, on the side of the highway in a ditch, with front end damage, missing his front plates, and drunk. The officer with me told him he had the guys front plate in his hands! As for Florida, I have good friends in Florida, no family though. I'll be visiting them in late February with my wife. Pick Florida over South Carolina, but you have to deal with hurricanes. No fun.
