First off, a huge thank you to everyone who’s been supporting this Substack, especially those of you on paid subscriptions. You’re the reason these slightly Hitchens-esque rants keep finding a home.

Now, let’s talk turkey. The average Substack subscription out there is hovering around $9 to $11 CAD a month.

I’ve kept mine at a humble $6 for quite a while, but the time has come for a slight bump: we’re moving to $8 CAD. I know that’s about a 33% increase, and I genuinely hope it doesn’t cause any hardship.

To soften the blow, I’ll be offering a discount on annual subscriptions. Instead of $96 a year, it’ll be $80. And if anyone signs up for a full year and later finds my “freedom to offend” a bit too freewheeling, I’ll happily refund a prorated amount. Monthly subscriptions are a bit trickier to prorate, but we’ll make sure everyone’s treated fairly.
