A man walks into a telegraph office with his dog and tells the worker, "My dog would like to send a telegram to my wife to give a message to our other dog." The worker looks at the dog and says, what would you like the telegram to say?" The dog responds, "Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof." The worker smiles and says to the dog, "You know you could add another woof for the same price." The dog says, "But that would make no sense at all."
Got through the first paragraph and thought first that I need to dust off the dictionary then when I got through the second one Monty Python jumped up and I could see John Cleese reciting this with a straight face . the rest was an enjoyable read with a smile on my face
The sad part is this isn’t even parody. It is absolutely what passes for university-level academic research these days, particularly in the social sciences. Loved the conclusion that lack of causative effect does not negate the existence of discursive effects! Only in your minds and your overly sensitive emotions, which are everyone’s responsibility but your own!
I wonder how students who produce essays like this would do in a viva exam?
It would be fascinating to hear a traditional lecturer (i.e. one who actually studied something and understood to the extent that s/he could actually teach it) ask them to state exactly what their meaning and their references were.
A tape recording of such an interrogation would make great comedy.
It probably won't be long before nobody understands satire anymore because the upcoming generations will be bloated on 'grievance studies ' and either believe what they're reading or be too scared of the consequences of pointing out the stupidity if they see through it.
What language is this? It resembles English with many similar words, but the entire content appears a language from another civilization. Perhaps this is the dialect of Gibberish formerly known as Universitese?
