whatever happened to ... Canada, we stand on guard for thee...? or did the Libs change the words?

You hit the nail on the head… repeatedly!

My guesstimate of the future:

It will take years for EU to define what an “associate” member is, how their laws need to change, review/refine all this with Canada so they will agree to follow through, obtain approvals by every EU country (some may need citizens approval, and I suspect if not unanimous it won’t be implemented), then after Canada changes their rules & regulations to match EU requirements, then they’ll be in.

Trump will be out of office, so likely will be Carney, and other EU leaders who today support this change. And during the EU processes, Canada will have to live without either a US or EU trade agreement.

By the time most Canadian’s understand the game Carney played, he’ll be offstage, living outside of Canada and enjoying financial benefits at Canada’s expense.

Exactly. The lag will benefit Carney. This is the fruit of a largely low information Carney voter.

This is excellent. Cuts through all the noise and tells it like it is. The devil, as always, is in the details and there seem to be precious few details to be found.

Prime Minister Carpetbagger is selling us down the river again. I am sure the Eurocrats are cooking up a windfall tax scheme to be applied against Alberta oil revenues to fund whatever the green grift dejour might be. Why can’t we have someone negotiate arrangements on Canada’s behalf that facilitates our nation’s entrepreneurs to sell more things to more people in more places? Instead we have leaders who seem intent on putting us in entangling alliances under the banner of feel-good slogans.

Exactly what my take is on the Canada elbows up and the Carney Liberals promo spin. It will be too late in four or five years if nothing much happens and people realize the inadequate bill of goods they bought.
