Sept 12, my weeks are getting up to 9 days, but I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia this week, so that knocked the wind out of my sails.
Nikas sold no bags this week; my son is making up “Lost Nutrition” like Lost Cat posters, which is insensitive. Plus, he’s making other posters; the progress is slow. I am unsure how the FB Marketplace runs; paid social media wastes money.
To repeat - I need to find dog shows and talk to breeders; when I went to a show before, I sold a lot, talked to groomers, and found someone who sells vegetables and fruit that are too distorted for grocery stores but are good enough for dogs who are not so shallow. www.nikasrawdogfood.com. Canada’s Safest Raw Dog Food. The ex-student is working or saying he is with his son, who needs to stop gaming and sell dog food.
Ensign Score - still dead in the water - It would provide a score for potential employees based on numeracy, writing skills and current events or history. It factored in time spent and gave negative scores for wrong answers, some of them - if the question were easy, it would be punishing. No movement at all. If anyone believes in this and can correct shit code, let me know.
Substack is the most profitable venture (like the tallest midget) right now. It establishes a founders’ club with one person who signed up. I lowered the price but am still at one founder. I will keep at it—a lot of new content.
The back story was that a student made fun of me at 14 users 11 months ago, and I swore 1000 by Oct. 11, 2024. Now, at 945 subscribers, over 30% paid (about 5X the average), and pulling up. Two articles were translated into Polish, and one was published in the Globe.
The Founders membership gets a lifetime subscription, a handmade mug worth $100, and free sponsorship posts if they are a business. We will run contests to give prizes to the person who signs up the most—slowly growing. I only need Kim K to say, “I read Freedomtoffend.com and love it, and I’d be rich. Or any big name, I’m not counting on it; I’ll grow slowly and honestly with good content and regular posting.
Social media doesn’t help. Seven points of contact means people must repeatedly see the brand to sign up. It’s just over $3 a month, but people tend to think everything on the net is free.
.
Let’s make Substack better (and make a little money). Please share if you agree.
TÖBÜ - good meeting today with two bright young men. We will keep going forward together, we seemed to connect. I am still working on packaging and some teaser posts. I found out Google forms suck, and I will use SurveyMonkey. But need to call them tomorrow. But teaching full time now.
I still like my Rolf idea; I might give away some to one sorority and give them specific directions on what to say and not say (no sales or persuasion) in progress. The embroidered patches are ordered. These stickers are below. My puppy.
Farmers and Hunters - the same guy whose wife had a baby; I still believe in the idea. There is a cynicism about online dating, and I read that many are just looking for cheating, but they are too cheap to use a cheating site. But I will go right at that dirty, cynical, hopeless spirit that people feel in marketing. I have to make it so people come on the app engaged, not the meat market mentality, where they swipe madly and then go back later, like they were looking at stock prices.
This idea will move forward eventually.
This divides searchers into Hunters and Farmers. I have researched it, and the issue is that business motivations fight personal motivations. I will form profiles through quizzing and results; it will restrict likes and matches and have a social side to comment on (in a hearted way. I had an Amsterdam designer who worked hard but didn’t get where it needed to be; it’s a long shot, but the concept (much more than you read is solid) It is for farmers, serious people who want a relationship, and not people always looking for better-looking arm candy.
Project X - someone off here who liked an idea I mentioned. They asked me for a discussion paper. 37 pages later. He will read this week.
I won’t say the idea, but it’s time to come. Sometimes, it’s not the technical feasibility; it’s new scalability, better infrastructure, and cultural movement. Suddenly, that idea that was talked about 15 years ago can work—still waiting for my report to be read.
Each Monday (it’s Tuesday), okay, it’s Thursday, I will discuss the status of each project; only Substack and Nikas are making a little money right now. Wish me luck. I might say there will be no change in some weeks, but I will show the developments. I am not discouraged. I may be ignorant and foolish, but I have a motor.
The yard looks beautiful.
Pneumonia? Feel better!!!
