Paul is an incredible truth teller, extremely insightful and witty to boot

I've followed Paul for quite a while now, there's one thread that will always pull me to read the essays he writes, I'm entertained. Constantly impressed with his marvelous use of the English language, I enjoy his sense if humour and find almost all of his pieces informative. If I could sum him up in one sentence it would be, I'd love to sit at a bar and have a beer with him.

If you’re ever in Toronto, sure. Or I’m in your hometown.

Somewhere in the aftermath of October 7, 2023, I came across this brilliant writer, Paul Finlayson, whose sympathies following that horrific day were of comfort, even as he fought his own battles against the ‘cancel culture’. Since that time, he has branched out to many issues that concern Canadians in general, and always approached them with insight, eloquence, and compassion. His satires and fascinating AI-produced ‘paintings’ blow me away. Even in his more serious essays, there is always some delicious exaggeration or comparison. He has, in fact, gone from strength to strength over the last few years. In a different climate Paul would already be a treasured columnist for a major publication, but thanks to Substack, those of us who read him are enlightened and entertained.
