Paul Finlayson and his family are distinguished and brilliant Canadians. His daughter’s words ring true in their entirety. Society has fallen into a rabbit hole. Indeed the rabbits are shooting the hunters. The thugs are presenting themselves as virtuous. The truth tellers matter less than evil Islamic militants. Universities are run by lunatics. Charter rights have been immolated. Yet just watch Paul Finlayson. He will prevail.
It’s very clear that you are proud of your father; he must be so proud of you. I was an early subscriber to this Substack, as a member of the Jewish community, I am so grateful for his support and so sorry this has happened. My late parents were H9locaust survivors; our family was always proud of being Canadians where such things could never happen. Tragically, our leadership has allowed, actually encouraged, this abandonment of Canadian values. Our tolerance of the intolerant needs to end.
Before I decided I had enough spare to upgrade, I restacked with a note suggesting you contact the JCCF (Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms) for legal help. The JCCF runs solely on donations, deals with infringements of our Charter Rights, and has been making headlines successfully winning against institutional overreach, most recently concerning persecution for standing up against pandemic lockdowns, denial of our rights to assembly, support of the Freedom Convoy.
I truly think your case falls under betrayal of Charter Rights.
Although I am constricted to pension income maybe supporting you will kick me into asking for paid support for my own substack and my butt into producing regular essays.
I have had plenty to say about Nazi-like antisemites. Indeed the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who encouraged the original 700,000 Muslim Arabs living in 1948 British Mandate of Palestine to leave for Gaza while all the Arab states ‘drove the Jews from the River to the Sea’ openly allied himself with Hitler. The Ottoman Turks before him did too.
Thanks for the tip; I think they rejected me six months ago, but I will try again; things have changed.

Dear Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms,
I request your urgent assistance in a matter involving multiple serious violations of my constitutional rights by the University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College. As a suspended professor who publicly supported Israel and criticized Hamas, I have been subjected to a coordinated and malicious campaign of defamation and silencing—actions that violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
This is not simply a labour matter. It is a case of constitutional abuse involving state-funded institutions. I outline below the specific Charter violations and the facts that support them.
⸻
Charter Violations:
1. Denial of Natural Justice (Section 7 – Life, Liberty, and Security of the Person):
• I was suspended without warning, hearing, or opportunity to respond.
• The external investigation relied exclusively on hearsay while ignoring exculpatory evidence.
• The primary source of the allegations was never interviewed—despite having later denied the claims entirely.
• I was invited to submit a list of witnesses and questions, yet none were contacted.
• I was banned from accessing the Learning Management System, all communication channels, and the university campus, making it impossible to gather evidence or respond meaningfully to the allegations.
• I was presumed guilty in a process that disregarded procedural fairness at every stage.
2. Infringement on Freedom of Expression (Section 2(b)):
• My suspension followed a personal social media post in which I compared Hamas to the Nazis and expressed support for Israel.
• The Human Rights Complaint against me labels me a racist, Islamophobe, violent, and a threat to children—all based solely on protected political expression.
• I was punished not for misconduct but for expressing a viewpoint unpopular with certain university officials.
• Meanwhile, others who have expressed anti-Israel or even pro-Hamas views have not faced any consequences, highlighting the ideological selectivity of enforcement.
3. Infringement on Freedom of Religion and Conscience (Section 2(a)):
• As a Jewish-affiliated academic, my religious and cultural identity is inseparable from my expression of solidarity with Israel.
• I believe I have been targeted for these beliefs. No comparable disciplinary action has been taken against those who post anti-Israel or antisemitic content.
• The institutional response has chilled my speech and my ability to live and express my identity freely within an academic environment.
4. Denial of the Right to Defend Against Defamation (Section 7 & Principles of Fundamental Justice):
• On the exact day I was suspended, university staff began spreading false and damaging rumours to students and faculty—including that I had assaulted a student, had been arrested, and was about to be fired.
• These defamatory statements originated from both the Complainant and the Accuser in the Human Rights Complaint and were spread institutionally.
• I have abundant evidence, including five students who contacted me in distress over what they were being told.
• These rumours continued for over a month before I was given any notice of formal allegations—effectively poisoning the entire campus environment before I had the chance to respond.
• When I asked staff to stop spreading these lies, I was threatened with police arrest.
⸻
Conclusion:
This case represents a deeply troubling abuse of institutional power and process. I have been silenced, banned, defamed, and denied the ability to defend myself—all for expressing a constitutionally protected viewpoint on a matter of public interest.
The reputational harm has been devastating, and I remain gagged, excluded, and without a platform to respond—even as defamatory statements continue to circulate. My case demands constitutional scrutiny, legal support, and a principled defence.
I respectfully request that the Justice Centre consider representing me or advising on the next steps. Your organization is one of the few in Canada that defends precisely these freedoms, and I believe your involvement could restore justice and public accountability in this matter.
Sadly, one day there may be another "Yad Vashem" equivalent given the explosion of global antisemitism. One thing is for certain, however. The Finlayson family will be one of the first to be bestowed with the esteemed, "Righteous Among the Nations" honour. The Jewish community is eternally grateful for your courage and conviction!
What a powerful essay and how rewarding for a father to have such an intelligent, supportive, and well spoken child. No doubt Paul is as proud of his daughter Sofia as she is of him. Stay strong. My late Grandfather Leopold was born in Hungary, came to the United States in his early 20s as a tailor and poor throughout his life, yet religious and pious to the end, lived with my family in our small apartment in Brooklyn and taught me many lessons, none more important than this: We should not expect rewards for a good deed; the deed itself is the reward. Sometimes the good deed will cause us trouble, but never forget the good deed itself is a reward. Trust Hashem, have faith in the Lord, and be grateful for what you have, more than many, a supportive and loving family.
Alongside Passover, we also have Holy Week. I'm reading today of the lamb led to slaughter and the High Priest who truly gets your father's experience of total injustice. I'm praying for justice - and for his dangerously impacted blood pressure

Thank you Jim, hope you are well. Your story defines madness. Truth is no longer a defence to hurt feelings

Good luck and God’s blessings on your fight.

Thank you. We aren’t apologizing. No issue for 14 years and say you stand with Israel and your world caves in.
