On Oct. 11, 2023, I started my Substack.
I just wanted to speak and be heard. In my Entrepreneurship class, a student mocked my 14 subscribers; I decided as I sat there giving him his undeserved 72% that I would be at 1000 subscribers in a year and damn the torpedos.
I’ve enjoyed the journey, learned a lot, and have much more to learn. I have met many good and kind people and travelled through politics, religion and too much grief. Thank you, Rivka, for all your comments. You are truly the only one who broke my heart.
Thank you to all who have subcribed, and to my children, thank you for your free subscription. Please read the articles :) And thank you to my two westies who have slept at my feet as I have written those 103 articles.
Some were published in other media, two translated into Polish, and I think I write better than a year ago; practice does help. I think my ADHD and diversity of topics is a strength and weakness; focusing on a niche audience is best for growth, and that will never be me.
I hope Substack can grow in the next few years, which might lead to the renaissance of long-form reading and improve debate in our society. My dad passed away before I started this; he wanted me to be a writer; this isn’t being a writer; it’s self-publishing, really, but still . . .
I still have a full-time job, but he would be pleased. However, I may have been fired today for calling Hamas Nazis.
Sorry, they are.
I would tidy up my language if I knew Dad was reading it. .:)
Thank you, Dannielle.
Congratulations. Well deserved 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Mazal tov on reaching your goal early. As we Jews say, go from strength to strength!
